Sunshine to televise weekly fishing report
Florida's many fishing enthusiasts now have a way to get live, up-to-date news and information each week, with specifics on where and what fish are biting, upcoming weather conditions impacting fishing in Florida, product updates and much more, with SunSport Network's newest original studio program, CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT.
The one-of-a-kind weekly one-hour television series, produced live each Thursday from Sunshine's studios, is tailor-made for all areas of the Sunshine State as each edition will feature area experts reporting live from seven different coastal regions.
Focusing on saltwater offshore, nearshore and inshore angling, CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT airs live Thursdays at 7 p.m. through September.
The show will be available in more than 6.4 million cable and satellite homes in all Florida markets on Sunshine.
Renowned angler Capt. Rick Murphy, host of the popular "Sportsman's Adventures'' on Sunshine, will co-host CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT alongside Sunshine's primary studio anchor Whit Watson. Also featured will be Dave Ferrell, editor of Marlin magazine, whose "Off the Deep End'' segment will provide a fun look at new and different products, rigging and gear.
Contributing to the regional appeal and uniqueness of the new show are the live reports from area experts, as well as the customized, up-to-date weather reports provided by Weathervision.
Each weather report will be designed specifically for the Florida angler with barometric pressure trends, wind speed, direction and water temperatures broken down by region. Appearing live on-set or reporting in via telephone, area experts will provide updated information from their region, including which fish are biting, recommended tackles and lures and anticipated weather conditions.
SunSport Network is working with World Publications, publishers of leading specialty magazines including Sport Fishing, Marlin and Fly Fishing in Salt Waters, who will offer their expertise and resources to the show. A specially designed set, with a large-scale map of the state of Florida as the studio floor, will highlight the seven regions in the state.
"With more than 1,200 miles of coastline, Florida is truly the fishing capital of the world,'' said Cathy Weeden, vice president/general manager of SunSport Network. "This new program will allow us to continue our mission of providing Florida fans with information specific to them that they can find no where else. Whether it's dolphin or billfish offshore, or inshore species like bonefish, snook or redfish, the Chevy Florida Fishing Report will provide weekend anglers with the up-to-date information they need to have a productive trip, whether they're in the Panhandle, the Keys or any point in between.''
CHEVY FLORIDA FISHING REPORT represents another new undertaking in original studio-based programming from SunSport Network. The Fox-owned and managed regional sports network reaches more than 6.4 million homes across Florida via cable and satellite.
SunSport Network has agreements with more than a dozen regional teams/properties including the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida State University, University of Florida, University of Miami, UCF, ACC, SEC, MAC and more. The network produces original programming from its studios at Universal Studios Florida such as the popular weekly "SportsTalk Live Presented by BellSouth'' series and the network's day-long "Tailgate Saturday'' college football programs, all focusing on sports from Florida and the region.
